Twitter rolled out a pretty big update to its iOS and Android apps today, revamping its main feed to automatically show photos and Vine videos. The update is part of an effort to turn the social network into a more visually engaging tool, and hits the company’s desktop website today as well.
Now when you scroll through your Twitter Timeline, pictures uploaded through the site’s own photo tool, and Vine videos, will automatically expand on the page. If you’re using a smartphone you can also tap on a photo to quickly expand it to fill the entire screen. Another tap will return you to your Timeline. Vine videos won’t begin playing until you tap them.
The update has been a long-time coming, and makes it even easier for users to glide through content on Twitter with as few taps or clicks as possible. With the company’s IPO quickly approaching, it’s nice to see Twitter is still refining its UI even as it focuses on bigger changes.
