The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) named T-Mobile its Marketer of the Year today during its annual conference in Chicago, IL. The company has effectively turned the mobile industry on its head over the past year with its “UnCarrier” strategy, which it always backed up with an aggressive and entertaining marketing campaign.
In a press release announcing the news, T-Mobile pointed to its direct marketing strategy. Customer service has been completely overhauled in an effort to improve the user experience, while the introduction of The Source, a website devoted to providing information on devices, apps and service plans, provides a place for users to search for help and learn more about their smartphones.
“Our UnCarrier strategy is all about listening to customers and going to bat for them with innovative plans and programs that challenge the status quo in wireless,” said T-Mobile senior vice president of marketing Andrew Sherrard. “We are determined to enhance the customer wireless experience, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see organizations such as the DMA recognizing the value of these efforts.”
T-Mobile CEO John Legere is probably all smiles with the news. Legere has made it a point to make T-Mobile a more established carrier in the United States, and good marketing definitely helps.
