With the iPhone 5s and 5c launch finally underway, Apple has finally released a statement on early sales, boasting high demand for its new smartphones in a comment to AllThingsD. The company also confirmed reports that some iPhone 5s models have already sold out (we were able to get our hands on a Space Gray version this morning).
Here’s Apple’s full statement:
Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores.
Apple’s spokesperson did not reveal initial sales figures, though in the past the company has not published launch day numbers, instead waiting for the end of the weekend. The company broke with tradition this week when it declined to announce pre-order figures, though the decision was attributed to the fact that only the iPhone 5c, and not the flagship 5s, was available to buy in advance on the company’s website.
