According to a new report, the popular new Moto X will drop to $99 next quarter on contract, and the price drop will finally see the wood backs arrive as well.
Serial smartphone leaker @evleaks dropped a bombshell this morning by announcing that the Moto X will drop to $99 starting next quarter. The potentially more exciting news, however, is that the wood backs will arrive at the same time. There will be a $50 premium for the natural backs, but that will price them at $149, still $50 below the current price.
We’re not quite sure what to make of this turn of events. Have sales been lower than Motorola and corporate parent Google hoped for? We just don’t know. Seeing as we loved the Moto X when we reviewed it, the price dropping to $99 will make it just that much more of an attractive option for those looking for a phone in the near future.
If you were considering picking up a Moto X, you may want to hold off for a little bit.
