Best Buy and Microsoft announced a partnership in June in which Best Buy would house special “Windows Store” areas inside of its retail locations. Best Buy will eventually cater to 500 of these stores across the United States and more than 100 in Canada, and the first is set to open its doors tomorrow.
The very first location will be the West Los Angeles Best Buy, where Major League Soccer, an apparent sponsor for the kick-off events, will be on hand with coaches and players who will show customers some tips and tricks to staying in shape. No, we’re not sure how that really applies to Windows, either.
We hope that Microsoft and Best Buy have some sort of sale planned to entice customers to walk in the doors to check out Windows computers and tablets, though there hasn’t been a mumble of any such plan yet. Instead, Microsoft said the first 200 customers to walk into the Windows Store will have a chance to win tickets to an LA Galaxy Game, a signed soccer ball or a chance to meet some star LA Galaxy players.
