According to @evleaks, Aug. 8 (8/8) will be a big day for Motorola’s Droid lineup. Whether that means an official announcement or launch date remains unclear. A recent Verizon roadmap had no mention of any Droid handsets, leading some to believe Motorola’s new family of devices would be saved for the fall/holiday period. Perhaps not.
In addition to Motorola’s upcoming Moto X “design it yourself” project, the company is still hard at work on new Droid handsets, and we’ve already gotten quick glimpses at the Ultra. Motorola’s Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD are still two of Verizon’s best handsets, even with devices like the HTC One and Galaxy S4 available, and we’d expect the company’s new Droid family to be just as good, if not better.
“8/8 does indeed look like DROID day,” @evleaks tweeted on Saturday. No other information is shared to back up this claim, though @evleaks has become one of the more trustworthy sources of advanced information, so we’ll take his word for it until we hear otherwise. If indeed Aug. 8 is a big Droid day, we’re less than a month away from seeing what Motorola has cooked up.
