The long-awaited Nexus 7 2nd generation (or Nexus 7 successor if you prefer) is expected to arrive some time between now and the fall, but according to DigiTimes, the upcoming tablet could arrive as soon as late July or early August. The Korean tech site has a pretty spotty record when it comes to these types of rumors though, so there’s no guarantee the new Nexus 7 will arrive as early as this month.

Then again, the original Nexus 7 was first released on July 13 (that’s one year ago tomorrow) so the tablet could logically come out any day now. However, we expect to see at least a few leaked photos before the launch finally arrives.

DigiTimes sources “some Taiwan-based vendors” who claim Google and Asus will ship eight-million units of the new tablet, and also offer up some possible specs for the device. The Nexus 7 successor will reportedly come equipped with a 7-inch 1980 x 1200-pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera, and will costs between $199 and $247.

These alleged specs line up with an earlier leak from an Asus support representative who inadvertently confirmed the new Nexus 7, also revealing that it will sport 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Android 4.3, a 4,000 mAh battery and LTE connectivity.
