Best Buy will run an iPad trade-in promotion on July 12 and 13, offering customers the chance to get a minimum of $200 for Apple’s tab. According to CNET, the two-day promotion will accept working iPad 2 models and up; customers can immediately put that value toward an iPad with Retina display—that price will start at $299.99 after applying the trade-in value.
CNET claims Best Buy will give customers a minimum of $200 for working models, which is actually quite a bit for something like the iPad 2. If you have a particularly immaculate iPad, the retailer could offer more value depending on model and condition. Best Buy recently ran an iPhone trade-in offer in June, which reportedly lead to the company’s biggest single day of trade-in business ever.
The report has no mention of the iPad mini, so it’s unclear if Best Buy will allow consumers to apply their iPad trade-in straight to Apple’s smaller tab—$200 would cut into the starting price quite a bit. CNET does mention the trade-in offer will apple that $200 minimum to a gift card, so you can seemingly use it for anything you want at a Best Buy store.
