More good news for Samsung, which recently announced it had already sold over 10 million of the Galaxy S4. Not only is the company’s new handset pulling ahead in the market, but according to a recent study from DxO labs the Android device has one of the best cameras on the smartphone market, outperforming even the iPhone 5. The study follows our own camera tests between the two handsets.

This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, considering that Samsung slapped a 13-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S4 while Apple was content to give the iPhone 5 an 8-megapixel camera. Truth be told, HTC has proved that it’s not all about the megapixels, however, with its new 4 Ultrapixel camera on the HTC One.

The Galaxy S4 scored a 75 out of 100 to beat the iPhone 5 (72) and edged out almost all of the competition. However, the Nokia 808 Pureview’s 41-megapixel camera scored a 77, though that doesn’t make up for the handset’s clunky Nokia Belle OS. For now the S4 is a great contender if you want a good camera without sacrificing quality elsewhere on the device, but don’t count Nokia out. Its PureView technology in devices such as the Lumia 920 and Lumia 928 is stellar, and HTC’s One camera continues to impress us.
