persona-3

Sony is not releasing a PlayStation 2 Classic this week on the PlayStation Store. Making up for the lack of a new game is excellent deal on one of the best games available through the service.

If you have a lot of time to spare, and we are talking in the ballpark of 80-100 hours, then you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal for $5 than Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES. Dollar-for-hour, you’ll be getting an awful lot of gaming.

Persona 3 is filled to the brim with excellent customization, a deceptively simple battle system, and somehow it manages to keep dungeon crawling entertaining for its entire length. No easy task given the incredible chunk of time you’ll be needing to beat it.

And if you’ve ever wanted to experience the difficulty of balancing a Japanese high-school student’s social life, then there really is no better place to turn in video game form. The only difference is that real Japanese high school kids don’t have to combat hellspawn in between math class and the kendo club after school… at least as far as we know.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES is a steal at $5. It’s one of the best rated JRPGs of the last five years for a reason. It’s a modern day classic that any fan of the JRPG genre can enjoy, even the jaded ones who wish the series would return to its former prominence.
