VP of Development Rod Fergusson will be leaving Irrational Games now that his work on BioShock Infinite has been completed. Fergusson was recruited from Epic Games last August to help wrap up production, and he has just stated in an interview with Polygon that it is now time for him to move on.
He claims he took the “closer” job working with Ken Levine because he has “been striving for better storytelling in the games.” Fergusson previously worked on the Gears of War series at Epic, so we can see where he is coming from with that idea.
“I am very proud of the work that I did and of the team and what they were able to accomplish on Infinite. Now with the game shipped successfully, I’ve done what I set out to do here and now I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career.”
Based on our thoughts on BioShock Infinite, Irrational Games more than succeeded in creating an amazing video game narrative, and we hope hope that Fergusson will spread his newly found knowledge to whatever development team picks him up next in his career.
