If you purchase a Nook HD+, Barnes & Noble will hook you up with a Nook Simple touch for free starting next week. Two for the price of one is always sweet, and the secondary device could make for a good hand-me-down gift. Like re-gifting a Christmas present.
It’s not that either of the devices are particularly bad, it’s just that competing devices are that much better. This could be a clear sign Barnes & Noble has bloated inventory lining factory shelves, so the company is adding a little incentive to push sales.
The book retailer hasn’t exactly enjoyed the most prolific last few months, with reports of missed expectations, Nook losses and locations closing down. Still, the company has worked to bolster its content offerings in any way it can, so it’s not bowing out of the fight just yet.
