Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 packs beefy hardware, but it also offers a ton of new software and services. The camera, for example, has at least six new features alone. Plus there’s a new AirView option for hovering over the screen with your finger to see a preview of media or messages, and even the the ability to swipe your hand above to screen to turn pages in a book and more. Apparently Galaxy S III owners can expect some of the new software enhancements in a future update.
“Anything that we can do that’s not dependent on hardware like infrared, we’ll definitely bring to all the flagship devices,” Samsung’s vice president of portfolio planning Nick DiCarlo explained to PCMag.
Unfortunately we imagine the AirView tech is dependent on new screen hardware, and the IR features won’t work on the Galaxy S III due to its lack of an IR blaster, although we hope the new camera features and other small touches added to the Galaxy S 4 eventually make their way to the Galaxy S III.
