Thursday, Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing Phil Schiller posted on his rarely utilized Twitter account a link to a mobile threat report from research company, F-Secure.
Schiller tweeted this simple tweet:
Be safe out there: f-secure.com/static/doc/lab…
The report includes a long list of malware threats across mobile platforms, predominantly on Android devices, with a couple of iOS threats. The study is an interesting read and covers of the types of threats to mobile devices. Each threat is documented as to what information is compromised and on what platform. Frighteningly, the number of profit-motivated threats have escalated significantly since 2006, from 2 to 173 threats, mostly on Android.
One thing is for sure, no single platform is free of malware threats, so as Phil Schiller stated: “Be careful ou there” and read the reviews and check the software is legitimate.
