Unconfirmed specs of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S IV have appeared courtesy of SamMobile, revealing practically everything there is to know about the device. In typical fashion, sources are kept anonymous, but information seems to be lining up ahead of the Korean company’s alleged March 14 announcement. For good measure, a picture of the boot screen was provided (below), but it’s unclear how authentic it is.

For the goods:

  • 4.99-inch Full-HD SoLux display
  • Snapdragon 600 1.9 GHz
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16, 32 and 64GB variants
  • 13-megapixel camera
  • 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7 mm
  • 138 gram

Of particular note is that Samsung is allegedly ditching its own Exynos chip and AMOLED tech because of overheating and production issues. Be that as it may, the S IV is shaping up to be a killer device, one that will pose a huge threat to HTC’s recently announced One handset.

As for that megapixel battle HTC said was over; the S IV appears to be ignoring that and notching it up to a higher megapixel count, so we’ll see how much the images have improved over the S III’s 8-megapixel shooter.

SamMobile’s source also shared more information about the design itself, saying there will be a removable plastic back flanked by aluminum, a home button with touch buttons on either side, and come in both black and white. As that March 14 date nears, I imagine we’ll hear all kinds of information about the S IV. Until then, we’ll keep our ears to the ground.
