With the PlayStation 4 having been unveiled this week, it only seems fitting to take a look back at the PlayStation 3.
On May 16, 2005, Sony took the wraps off of the PlayStation 3. It was the eve of E3 2005, and although the console wasn’t due to be released until the following spring, Sony wanted to get people hyped for the latest iteration of its gaming console.
The press conference ran for about 12 minutes less than the PlayStation 4 event did this week, but there is one very notable difference: The PlayStation 3 was shown off at the end of the event. It makes you once again wonder why we have yet to see the actual PlaySation 4 console. Yes, as many people have said, it’ll just be a box, but some of us actually care what the box will look like, and more specifically, how large it will be.
Either way, take a walk down memory lane with us as another chapter in the history of gaming draws to a slow close.
