Samsung and Apple are still at one another’s throats in the courtroom and it’s clear the presiding judge is getting frustrated at the extent of the battle.

Judge Lucy Koh recently asked both companies to “focus and streamline” the claims within the lawsuit down to something more manageable for the court to handle. “We’ll keep narrowing and narrowing,” Judge Koh told lawyers from both teams. “You’ve already been litigating this thing for a year; you must know something about what’s your best case.”

The current lawsuit will go to trial in 2014, and is separate from the suit that wrapped up last summer under which Apple was awarded more than $1 billion in damages. It involves newer technology used in the latest smartphones from both firms.

Judge Koh has earned a reputation for her stern attitude in the court room. During last year’s trial, Apple’s legal team promised 22 witnesses for rebuttals, to which Koh replied: “You’re smoking crack.”
