Apple was recently hacked and attacked by the same group of China-based hackers that went after Facebook last week. Apple admitted the security issue in a statement to Reuters, but noted that the hackers weren’t able to walk away with any secure information about Apple’s customer base or Apple’s internal documents. “There was no evidence that any data left Apple,” the company said in a statement provided to Reuters.
Bummer, right? Maybe we would have heard more about an iTV or an iWatch if the hackers were able to access sensitive data. Still, we’re glad that Apple’s security was tight enough that nothing major happened. It’s unclear what the extent of the hack was, although we suspect the Chinese hackers were likely trying to find trade secrets and personal information.
Apple will reportedly release a software update later today to prevent hackers from accessing personal data.
