HTC’s Twitter has been particularly active the past few days, clearly attempting to hype up next week’s event in New York City with subtle hints on what we might expect. While we still haven’t gotten to the bottom of the M7/One conundrum, HTC implied on Friday that whatever’s coming will have advanced optics. Why else did the company tweet a picture of a camera lens beset by filters?
Like the other teaser photos, the Feb. 19, 2013 date is clearly indicated. But aside from that, it’s difficult to say what the company is suggesting in the photo. HTC previously hinted a new camera experience would arrive this year, so this is likely playing off that. We saw a purported sample photo appear on Flickr from the HTC One, but there’s really not much to glean from that alone.
Does the image mean we’ll get professional-level optics in a mobile phone? If HTC expects to really challenge what consumers expect from a smartphone camera, it’ll have to push the boundaries quite a bit. We’ll see exactly what the company is trying to imply on Tuesday of next week.
