Last week, Ubisoft announced that they were no longer releasing Rayman Legends as a Wii U exclusive. For a lot of fans of the original game, this move made sense. Rayman Origins was released on pretty much everything, so temporary Wii U exclusivity seemed like the obvious route.
The news, however, was that Rayman Legends for Wii U would receive another big delay. The game was just about completely ready to be shipped, according to Ubisoft, but they wanted to release it for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at the same time.
Now? Rayman Legends is slated for September.
The problem is that Ubisoft has faced quite a fan backlash from Wii U owners. Some fans even claim that their whole purpose for buying a Wii U this early was specifically for Rayman Legends. Now that Ubisoft has made their purchase just about pointless, fans have taken to Facebook, Twitter and Forums to slam the publisher for their decision to postpone the game’s launch.
How’s Ubisoft saying sorry? They plan to offer up another Rayman Legends demo for Wii U. This came from their Facebook page on Friday:
Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game.
We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more.
A new demo? Great. I’d laugh if this wasn’t so depressing.
