The highly anticipated Tomb Raider reboot is officially gold and on its way to publishing as we speak, so where does that leave developer Crystal Dynamics? Where else besides getting to work on rebooting their other prized franchise, Legacy of Kain!? At least we can get some great entertainment from the recent vampire fad which has the entertainment industry on lock down.

Superannuation has uncovered that Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have registered warfornosgoth.com through CSC Corporate Domains, Inc. For those not familiar with the series, Nosgoth is the fantastical vampire realm the lord Kain and the soul-devouring former wraith Raziel battle their demonic foes, and occasionally each other.

Originally a well received RPG from Silicon Knights, Crystal Dynamics took the franchise to another level with the creation of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, one of the first true open-world 3D action games. Many have praised the series for its excellent mythology and Crystal Dynamics’ astonishing characterization of its two lead anti-heroes. The series hasn’t been around seen since 2003′s Legacy of Kain: Defiance all but wrapped up the storyline.

Since then, publisher Eidos has been grabbed by Square Enix, and their backing led to the technically marvelous Tomb Raider reboot.

There’s no telling if Crystal Dynamics is really bringing back the series 100% just yet, so take this registration with a grain of salt. Chances are high we will be visiting Nosgoth in the near future, however, as Legacy of Kain still retains a lot of name recognition throughout the gaming community. What piques my interest the most is if we will be controlling Kain or Raziel should the game in fact be true.

Old time fans: assuming that this is a reboot, wiping the slate clean from the original series, who would you be more interested in playing as, Raziel or Kain?

More to come on this rumor if anything becomes official. In the meantime, be sure to check out Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider reboot for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on March 5th.
