Microsoft has listened to its users, and SkyDrive document editing is about to get a whole lot easier.
Over 1 billion documents are now on SkyDrive according to a blog post from Microsoft this morning. This is leading to a lot of collaboration on various projects, but also to some frustration.
Users have been complaining that when they receive a link to a document to edit, even if it is something minor, they need to either login with an existing Microsoft account or create one. That will now be a thing of the past as you can now share the links with anyone and they can edit without needing a login.
The caveat to this is that anyone who would receive the link could in turn edit the document, so if you’re worried about security you will still need to require folks to take credit for their edits by logging in to the service.
