HMV Store

The saga of HMV’s bankruptcy continues with 66 stores being marked for closures and executives being labeled as “redundant.”

It was announced last month that entertainment retailer HMV had entered into administration, the U.K. equivalent of bankruptcy protection. The company planned to continue as is until it could be restructured or sold off to a buyer. Things went fairly quiet until the end of last month when a disgruntled employee was called in to be fired and took to the company’s Twitter account to vent their frustrations though out the process.

News is now ramping up again, and none of it is pleasant.

To kick things off, 60 redundancies have been made across the corporate offices, including CEO Trevor Moore. This was necessitated by the announcement that 66 of the company’s 220 stores across the United Kingdom. No timeline has been given as to when these stores will close down, but until they do so they will continue with normal operations. When they do close up it will impact 930 staff.
