Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has never shied away from criticizing the company he helped put on the map. He’s done it before, particularly when speaking about the iPhone, and he’s doing it again in a new report, lamenting on iOS’s feature set in comparison to Android.
“Currently we are in my opinion somewhat behind with features in the smartphone business,” Wozniak told Wiwo.de. “Others have caught up/ Samsung is a big competitor. But precisely because they are currently making great products.”
Apple still commands plenty of marketshare with its iPhone, and it had record sales with the iPhone 5 last year, but Samsung has by far become the top mobile company around today. And it’s not just because Samsung has such a large volume of devices; the company is constantly pushing the boundaries, evidenced by the success of the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II.
While Wozniak doesn’t have any significant pull inside the Apple campus, his opinion is still highly regarded in the tech world. He’s as big an Apple fan as they come, which is why people take notice when Woz speaks his mind.
