Nintendo announced that the Wii U version of the next Smash Bros. would be shown off at E3 this June during their most recent Nintendo Direct presentation. They did not, however, clarify whether or not the world would see the already announced portable version of the game.

Masahiro Sakurai, the lead designer behind the Smash Bros. series, has extended the game’s E3 showing beyond just the Wii U.

Sakurai clarified in a series of tweets (here and here) after the Nintendo Direct presentation that he intends to show both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions. He also apologized for the unusual way Nintendo announced that Smash Bros. would be at E3 without showing any shots of the game.

Of course, we’ll be covering E3 live and in person. If there’s any extra information to be had regarding Smash Bros. in both its upcoming forms, we’ll try and grab as much of it as we can for you folks.
