You’ll be able to see Ashton Kutcher playing Apple co-founder Steve Jobs at your local theater beginning April 19.

We already had heard that JOBS: Get Inspired would open in April, but now we have an official date for the wide release of the film: April 19. The film is currently awaiting its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, but The Hollywood Reporter is stating that not only has the film secured distribution rights thanks to Open Road Films, but the release date was also already announced.

Guess it’s time to finally see if the movie is actually any good.

When the movie went into production last year it was originally rumored to be a TV project, but somewhere along the way it became an actual theatrical release. This makes it the first of two large scale productions planned around Jobs’ life, the second is currently being scripted by Aaron Sorkin, but no word as of yet when that one will begin production. That latter is also considered the ‘official’ film as it is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography. It is still unclear what JOBS used as source material.

As for storyline, JOBS will reportedly cover the man’s life from 1971 to 2000, just before the introduction of the iPod. This means we should see the founding of the company, his eventual departure, the founding of NeXT, the building of Pixar and his eventual return to Apple.

So mark your calendars for April 19, although you probably already have as it also happens to be the anniversary of the founding of Apple.
