Rhapsody’s subscription music service is a direct competitor to Spotify, Rdio and others, and the company is about to expand its footprint. Speaking to GigaOm during CES 2013, Rhapsody CEO Jon Irvin said that a subscription option to the company’s music catalogue will be available to Europeans in sixteen countries during the second quarter of this year.

I myself am a Spotify user and have preferred it to services such as Rhapsody because I like the song sharing features and other in-app options, but this is good news to any consumer in a country that doesn’t currently have access to a music subscription service.
