At 8pm local time on January 8th, 2013, Nintendo held a small Nintendo Direct presentation in Japan. The topic of the Direct was set to be specifically Pokémon. You can watch the entire thing in English above (find just the new trailer at the base of this post).

By around 7:18 in the video above, Nintendo switched focus to announce a brand new step in the Pokémon series. That’s where you can find the first trailer for this new game. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will launch worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS in October of 2013.

This is the first Pokémon entry for the Nintendo 3DS.

Pokémon X and Y is a completely new generation of Pokémon characters, so that means players will get a new set of starter Pokémon to choose from. This game will also feature a new 3D perspective, as seen above. Those familiar with Pokémon will likely notice in the shot that there appear to be two trainers waiting near the side of the path; that’s a good hint at the perspective we can expect from Pokémon X and Y.

This is the first Pokémon entry for the Nintendo 3DS.

As more for this announcement comes, we’ll be sure to have it.
