AT&T announced on Tuesday that it has officially activated its high-speed 4G LTE network in five new markets across the United States. The new markets include Oxford, Mississippi; Tucson, Arizona; Melbourne, Florida; Springfield, Massachusetts and Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The carrier is also expanding the existing footprints in Phoenix, Arizona; New Brunswick/Middlesex County, New Jersey; Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California. AT&T’s “4G” wireless network, which includes HSPA+ areas in addition to 4G LTE cities, now covers more than 285 million people across the United States. The carrier said in November that it is investing $14 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in an effort to provide high-speed data networks to 300 million people by the end of 2014.
