Whether you like the new look or not, Twitter will force feed users its new profile layout starting Dec. 12. I hope you embrace change, because your 140-character presence is about to look a lot like Facebook’s fancy Timeline design.
Introduced back in September, Twitter’s shift has thus far been optional, a taste of the new-look social network. But the company is shepherding its entire flock over to the new pasture, and you have no choice but to follow suit.
Twitter on Monday said on its blog:
On December 12, we’re rolling this out to all users: you’ll automatically get this new version of the profile on twitter.com. If you don’t upload a header photo by then, you (and everyone else) will only see a default grey image on your page. That’s not fun! To get inspired about what you can do, check out this video to see how to make your profile a little more “you”, less generic. Have fun out there.
Unless you want a big grey blob at the top of your profile, you better upload something that represents your personality. An image of the beach or some trees, perhaps.
