HTC’s Windows Phone 8X is a great smartphone, one that brilliantly showcases what Microsoft’s new OS is capable of in a nicely designed package. The colors are fun for choice, it’s wonderfully thin and light, and it uses utilizes HTC’s signature soft touch build. The only thing holding it from trumping Nokia’s Lumia 920 is price. But that’s no longer the case thanks to a new Best Buy offer.
The big box retailer is currently offering the HTC 8X for free, $0, nada, to new Verizon customers, and new Verizon customers only. Now that we’re in the full swing of the busy holiday period, this is a no-brainer option for those eyeing HTC’s excellent handset. You are, however, required to sign a two-year contract in order to get the savings.
Don’t feel too hard done by if you’re a current Verizon customers; Best Buy is lowering the price of the device to $99 with two-year contract for those looking to upgrade. Free is better, obviously, but $99 isn’t so bad.
You really can’t do any better than an offer like this. HTC has done a great job — as has Nokia with its Lumia 920 — making a claim for jumping over to the Windows Phone 8 platform. And new customers don’t even need to pay a cent for the device to get started? Not bad.
