RIM’s BlackBerry 10 operating system will launch in January of next year and, even though that date is quickly approaching, the company hasn’t revealed every last feature that the new OS will offer. CrackBerry recently stumbled across a few files in the latest BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha update that suggest RIM will offer a video chat client, likely on a par with FaceTime, when it launches its new smartphones.
CrackBerry noticed a folder titled bbm_video and, inside of it, a file named “video_chat.m4a” — a ringtone that will play when an incoming video call comes in. It makes perfect sense for RIM to implement the feature. It isn’t official yet, but we’re betting we’ll hear more on the topic in January.
