Want to flame some developer on Google Play because you spent $0.99 and didn’t think the app was up to snuff? That’s fine, but know that your full name and picture will be published next to your review soon.
Google’s move can be seen in both a positive and a negative light. On one hand, it’s awesome that the company is pushing for people to stop spamming developers with mean or rude comments, hidden behind an unknown avatar and name. On the other hand, it will certainly turn off some privacy-aware commenters who would otherwise have submitted a valid review. According to TechCrunch, the new reviews will apply to the Google Play Store on both the web and mobile front.
What are your thoughts on this? Will you still leave reviews if your photo and full name are left next to them?
