AT&T Expands 4G LTE Network to 14 New Markets, Is Ahead of 2012 Deployment Schedule

AT&T announced Friday that it is expanding its 4G LTE wireless data network to 14 new markets and expanding in two others. The new areas include Charleston, Greenville and Columbia, SC; Columbus and Toledo, OH; Corvallis and Eugene, OR; El Paso, TX; Jonesboro, AR; Mobile, AL; Pensacola, FL; Portland, ME;, Saratoga Springs, NY and South Bend-Mishawaka, IN. It’s also expanding in the Fairfield County/Danbury areas of Bridgeport, CT and in Monroe/Downriver South Detroit.

AT&T said its 4G LTE network now covers 150 million people in 103 markets in the United States and that it is ahead of its original roll-out plans for 2012. The carrier has more than doubled the number of people its network covered at the end of last year.
