Success in retail sales is quite often judged in how much money is generated per square foot of the location. Going by that metric, Apple Stores are pretty much untouchable.
The latest report from Retail Sails shows Apple Stores generate an average of $6,050 per square foot, more than double Tiffany & Co. in second place at $3,017. This marked a 7.5 percent growth for Apple over last year which was overshadowed by lululemon atheltica’s growth of 11.8 percent.
This success makes the departure of John Browett as the head of Apple’s retail division all that more odd. Sales were increasing under his leadership, but was it just not at the pace Apple desired? We may never know.
