Verizon just announced that it will begin offering the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II, an Android smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard, in the coming weeks for $129 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two-year contract. The Galaxy Stratosphere II offers a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, although neither Verizon nor Samsung said if it will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device also supports NFC and is equipped with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network and more.
It’s not a bad price for a mid-range handset, overall, but we recommend spending a bit more for the Galaxy S III or maybe even holding out to see the pricing of Verizon’s new HTC DNA smartphone, which the carrier is largely expected to announce during a press event tomorrow.
