Verizon just announced that it will begin offering the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II, an Android smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard, in the coming weeks for $129 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two-year contract. The Galaxy Stratosphere II offers a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, although neither Verizon nor Samsung said if it will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.┬áThe device also supports NFC and is equipped with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network and more.

It’s not a bad price for a mid-range handset, overall, but we recommend spending a bit more for the Galaxy S III or maybe even holding out to see the pricing of Verizon’s new HTC DNA smartphone, which the carrier is largely expected to announce during a press event tomorrow.
