With the release of a brand new trailer, Far Cry 3‘s plot line comes into slightly better focus. Up until now, we’ve only known that you play an outsider stranded on a wild island. You, for some reason or another, go on a killing spree and square off against a whole world of nutjobs.
Now, Ubisoft has revealed that you were there on vacation with your friends. Things went south, and your best buds were captured and are being held prisoner. Their eventual destination? Being sold off into slavery.
This trailer reveals that the central plot line of Far Cry 3 involves you rescuing your friends. Of course, with all the talk of “insanity,” I’d wager that getting from the beginning of the game to its finish will require you to do blunt and horrific things that no sane hero would be capable of.
I do have a question for you readers regarding one of the quotes the trailer fires off at its closure. “Like Skyrim with guns,” as written by Machinima. Is this a selling point for you? Do you read that line and think, “nice!” Or is it a mark of unoriginality? I ask because I’m genuinely curious. It seems like such an odd line to lead part of your marketing campaign with, in my opinion. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
Far Cry 3 will release in North America on December 4th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
