Belkin on Monday announced it will be the first third-party company to offer Lightning accessories, with its first products being an all-in-one car charger and charge-and-sync dock. Apple, apparently, has given the popular accessory maker the green-light — reports previously revealed no companies would be given clearance until the Cupertino-based company held a seminar explaining the technology.
Apple itself has unveiled a number of connectors to compensate for the change from 30-pin to Lightning, but the market has been noticeably absent of accessories.
“Belkin was the first third-party manufacturer to develop accessories for the 30-pin connector back in 2003, and we are thrilled to be first to market with solutions for the new Lightning connector,” Martin Avila, general manager of Belkin’s core division.
The two accessories are up for preorder now, and will be available by Nov. 15, Belkin said.
