Android Accounted for 75 Percent of All Worldwide Smartphone Shipments During Q3

By | +

google-android-world-domination-salesAccording to the International Data Corporation (IDC), Android devices during Q3 of this year accounted for exactly 75 percent of all smartphone shipments. In contrast, Apple’s iPhone only garnered 14.9 percent of the market pie, while the remaining crumbs were divvied up between other competitors.

In total, Android smartphone shipments reached a staggering 136 million worldwide, up from 71 million the previous quarter. To put that in perspective, the amount of phones running Android topples the entirety of the smartphone market from back in 2007, when Android originally launched. Not bad, not bad at all.

With numerous Android devices hitting every year, the onslaught is sure to reach even higher as the S IIIs and One Xs continue to come out.
