ARCHOS isn’t necessarily a big mobile player, but the company is still confidently throwing its name into the tablet market. The firm on Wednesday announced a new 8-inch device, dubbed ARCHOS 80 Cobalt, that comes equipped with a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (microSD expandable to 64GB). No price or availability was shared, however, which is a bummer.
The device doesn’t bring anything mind blowing to the table, and sports a so-so resolution (1024 x 768) with Android 4.0. Additionally, its rear-facing camera is only 2-megapixels, while the front is 0.3-megapixels. In all honestly, if it doesn’t undercut the Nexus 7 by any significant margin, it’s difficult to imagine the 80 Cobalt charting calm waters.
Be that as it may, multiple options never hurt anyone, so keep your eye out for the 80 Cobalt this holiday season (we assume).
