Apple just announced major changes among its management team. The company said that John Browett, the firm’s retail chief who joined last January, and the senior vice president of iOS software Scott Forstall will be leaving the company. Forstall will serve as an advisor to Tim Cook before he leaves Apple entirely in 2013, but it’s unclear when Browett’s last day will be.

“A search for a new head of Retail is underway and in the interim, the Retail team will report directly to Tim Cook,” Apple said in a statement Monday.

Meanwhile, head of industrial design Jonny Ive will also work on “leadership and direction for Human Interface, or the UI of iOS.” Eddy Cue will also work on Siri and Maps in addition to his role as the senior vice president of Internet Software and Services division. Craig Federighi, the senior vice president of Mac Software Engineering, will work on Apple’s iOS and OS X efforts. Bob Mansfield, Apple senior vice president, will head up a new Technologies group that combines Apple’s wireless teams into one sector. Apple said he will also oversee the semiconductor teams as part of the Technologies group.
