Huawei is gearing up to launch its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone according to leaked images of the device that have surfaced online. Called the Ascend W1, the smartphone looks rather similar to the new HTC 8X, and it’s expected to make its official debut before the end of the year.
According to a report from Japanese website Blog of Mobile, which obtained the first images of the device, the Ascend W1 boasts a 4-inch WVGA display, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA front-facing camera. It’s expected to be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. The device is also said to be packing a 2,000 mAh battery.
While it may look similar, the Ascend W1 certainly isn’t as high-end as the HTC 8X, then. If the details are accurate, this appears to be more of a mid-range handset, said to be costing around $310.
