PC gamers who want a little Sims in their Skyrim can now download the Hearthfire DLC via Steam.
The download, which hit Xbox Live last month, lets players buy land and build upon it. The idea originally came out of Bethesda’s week-long brainstorming session called the Game Jam, the results of which they showed off at DICE2012 in February. Modders were already putting together similar tools as early as Spring of this year.
So, Xbox 360 players had Hearthfire a month ago, and Steam and PC users are just getting it now, but what about PlayStation 3?
Not even Dawnguard, which debuted this summer, has made it to PlayStation 3 yet. Bethesda’s chief of Marketing said on twitter that they don’t currently have any information on Skyrim DLC on PS3, saying saying that he “will share update when I have one.”
When one Twitter user wrote to Hines about the reasons behind it, he replied that “the performance isn’t good enough in all cases. For most folks, it’d be fine. For some, it wouldn’t be.” Hines went on to say that the problem is Bethesda’s to solve and isn’t the fault of Sony or the PlayStation 3. It remains to be seen whether PlayStation 3 owners will get access to the content yet this year or whether Bethesda will be able to solve their PS3 problems at all.
