Microsoft Completes Windows Phone 8, Hands the Reigns to Manufacturers

By | 3

Windows Phone 8 home screenA few outlets have independently confirmed that Microsoft’s next big mobile OS, Windows Phone 8, has been completed. You know what that means? We can (hopefully) expect to see devices, such as the Lumia 920, as early as the first few weeks of November, just in time for the holidays.

Since the OS is now in the release to manufacturing (RTM) stage, the pressure is now on partners to release devices shortly after WP8 hits in late October. When IFA wrapped up, there was no shortage of Windows devices on display, so fans will have a lot to choose from when Windows Phone 8 swag starts hitting retail stores. How about that Samsung Ativ S?

There are quite a flew flagship handsets — iPhone 5, Galaxy Note II — lined up for the next few months, so it’ll be very interesting to see how consumers respond to Microsoft’s new and improved mobile OS. There’s a lot to like, not to mention it looks completely unique compared to Android and iOS. Exciting times for mobile fans.
