Forget the iPhone 5, forget the Samsung Galaxy S III… the coolest smartphone you can buy is a James Bond smartphone. To celebrate the upcoming Bond film, Skyfall, British carrier O2 has confirmed that it will soon be stocking “The Bond Phone,” a limited edition Sony Xperia T loaded with exclusive James Bond content.
It will include the famous James Bond theme tune as its ringtone, exclusive themes and screensavers, and images from the upcoming movie — and it will only be available on O2 in the U.K.
Unfortunately, that’s about as far as it goes. There will be no cosmetic changes to the handset — not even a 007 logo — and it won’t be fitted with a taser, laser beam, detonator, lock pick, or anything else that’s that exciting.
What you will get is a 4.6-inch HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of shooting 1080p video. The device also includes NFC connectivity, and will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.
O2 hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the device yet, but Sony says The Bond Phone is “on track to deliver by the end of the month.”
