iPhone 5 Front Panel Leaks Again, NFC Appears to Be in Tow this Time (Gallery)
By Todd Haselton | 4
We’ve seen our fair share of iPhone 5 front panel leaks but, now, it appears we get a look at a nearly-complete build of the front of the device. The latest image, above, includes the full LCD, flex cables, the front-facing camera and the metal bracket that keeps it all together. There’s also a small square area at the top, however, which Macotakara thinks could be the phone’s near-field communications (NFC) chip.
We’re expecting the iPhone 5 to take advantage of NFC, especially with iOS 6′s Passbook feature, which allows you to store frequently used cards, such as a frequent flyer or shopper’s club card, although it’s unclear right now if Apple has plans to deploy the phone with a finalized mobile payment solution, too. We’re still expecting Apple to reveal all of the goodies on September 12, which is just short of a few weeks away, so stay tuned for plenty of fresh iPhone 5 news between now and then.
In the meantime, check out a few additional images in the gallery below.
