Ever gotten so angry at your cell phone that you wanted to throw it as hard as possible?  You may want to head to Finland next year.

The world championship of phone throwing kicked off in Savonlinna, Finland in 2000, and the popularity of the event has now seen similar events being held in other countries around the world. The 2012 championships were held this weekend and saw Ere Karjalainen of Finland take home the title with a throw of 332ft. Second place went to Jeremy Gallop with a toss of 311ft, but he did when the national championship in England earlier this year.

In the women’s category, Jonna Mattero from Finland took home the prize with a throw of 139ft.

Contests were held in three categories: Over the shoulder style to see who could throw the furthest, Freestyle where you are judged on aesthetics and creativity and finally, the junior category for those under the age of 12.

We do not recommend practicing this at home with your current phone, but perhaps an older model you have laying in a drawer somewhere.
