Beats Reportedly Buys Music Streaming Service MOG

By | +

Beats by DreAccording to AllThingsD, Beats Audio has purchased music subscription service MOG. MOG CEO David Hyman previously said the music subscription service had no plans to sell, but plans obviously change. HTC, which owns 51 percent of Beats, invested $300 million into the audio company last year. It’s unclear how the acquisition will change MOG, but one would suspect a big push will be made to gain more subscribers — the service currently has around half a million active users. AllThingsD speculates that Beats’ real interest is in MOG’s deals with the major music labels and the potential to build the service on its own, now that a front end is already established.
