Gravity Rush, as news comes from the PlayStation Blog, will be available in North America on June 12th, 2012 and in Europe on June 13th. The game will release as a digital download on the PlayStation Network as well as a physical copy in retailers. The announcement comes from Sony’s Wilson Cheng.
The new trailer above gives a little insight into how Gravity Rush is played and what it’s all about, but Cheng dives a little deeper on the PlayStation Blog. Here’s a bit of his explanation.
In the world of Gravity Rush, a futuristic world is under attack from unknown forces: So-called “gravity storms” have begun appearing in the sky, wreaking havoc while strange creatures terrorize the population. Amidst the mayhem, a young girl named Kat wakes up with a phenomenal new ability to control gravity.
Playing as Kat, you set out to stop the world from disintegrating around you, to piece together your lost memories, and to uncover the truth behind it all. There is a huge open world to explore and this is only amplified by Kat’s ability to control the forces of gravity. Before you know it, you’ll be walking on any surface imaginable, flinging yourself miles into the sky, and initiating special attacks in a gravity-free state to plunge down on your enemies. Just be careful who you’re standing next to, lest unsuspecting civilians be caught up in your gravity power!
Gravity Rush released in Japan back on February 9th as Gravity Daze. Famitsu, the Japanese gaming magazine, gave the title a 38 out of 40, making it the highest rated PlayStation Vita game available.
We’re already fans of the game for its sharp, colorful style and unique and seemingly simple controls. Combining those two gaming elements is always a winning formula from where we stand. Let’s hope this one is as good as it seems.
