With today’s invitation to the iPad 3 event to be held next week, one thing immediately comes to mind for many people: Is there still time to sell my iPad 2?
If you plan to upgrade to the iPad 3 from your iPad 2, the clock is now ticking for you to sell it off as quickly as possible. With each day we draw closer to the iPad 3, the prices you can get for it are going to be quickly dropping. There are a lot of different ways you can sell it off, but each one comes with their own issues.
The quickest, and possibly most pain-free way of doing it is using a site like Gazelle.com, but the amount they offer you could drop at any moment. Currently they are offering $240 for a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 that is in “Good” condition. With a site such as this you just fill out the paperwork, they pay for the shipping and after they receive your device and verify it is in the condition you said it is in, you’ll receive your payment. No fuss, no muss.
For the more adventurous types out there, you can place an ad on Craigslist where you can ask any price you want, but then you run the risk of sitting on it too long, or the buyer flaking on you. eBay allows you to do the same, but there are risks involved with this method of selling as well, and the site is pretty much choked with units at the moment, so you would have to do quite a bit to make yourself stand out from the crowd.
There are also options such as listing on Facebook Marketplace, selling to friends and family, or, as I did with my first generation iPad, I passed it on to my parents while I got the shiny new one.
